As usual, I'd like to say this is a fictional story, but it's not. Hence, just reporting as usual. Issues like this crop up a lot in programming, when you design something to indicate success by watching for the desired operation to complete, but failing to check that what you actually wanted had happened. Time for version 2.0 I guess!
