I'm usually alone at home, doing my work, enjoying the complete silence. When I suddenly hear footsteps, I get a very visceral shiver, since I have no idea if I've got some kind of wild animal in a trench coat creeping around down there, or some family member came back home. I wouldn't mind the announcement. I get it now.
