Kickstarter kick
2016-06-20
This particular issue is perhaps a bit too close to home to be posting here. I'm certainly not Casper, though. I have way more games than him.
Collecting board games hit me in my twenties when I found a friend that shared this desire, but had also hesitated to jump into it for fear of not having anyone to play with. We both made the plunge and amassed a bit too many giant boxes on our shelves. Most games were played once, then we had to move onto the next game we'd just bought.
As I've gotten older, friends have gotten busy, and the amount of unplayed games on my shelf has grown.
As for having expansions for things I haven't even played the base game for... well, I'm an obsessive collector. Kickstarter is an insidious trap for me with its tantalising stretch goals and masterful creators. Xia: Legends of a Drift System was an amazing game, introduced to me by a friend. The expansion for it (Xia: Embers of a Forsaken Star) is just now wrapping up its Kickstarter and I'm really excited to be in on it this time. I want my comets!
